Most of the media I absorb is music, which I have yet to post about in my blog. Given that opening, one would be correct to assume this entry will deal with making pottery! Just kidding, it actually deals with music.
Since this is my blog, I would like to voice my opinion on mash-ups, slang for mixing together two different songs. The concept existed before I was born, but seems to have risen in popularity from use on the TV show "Glee." I generally don't like mash-ups, as most "mix-artists" seem to combine the two most random songs they can find. However, I love the clever mixture of beats in "Tender Umbrella Party," a mash-up of Rihanna's "Umbrella" and General Public's "Tenderness." Who would have thought the two songs worked better as one? (Clearly VJ Jaren, but this is beside the point.) I caution those interested in listening, because the song is playing on repeat in my head!
*Note, this song was featured in the trailer for "Just Go With It."
2011 started 16 days ago, eek! Crazy how time flies.
Speaking of which, a lot has happened since I posted my last blog entry in... November. If I want this to be a blog, and not a "Hey, I've got an announcement" place, I should probably update more frequently. Less news worthy, and more post worthy! Speaking of which, I am back in Austin now and I couldn't be happier.
Firstly, my new years resolution is to eat healthier! I would love to become a vegetarian, but I am afraid of the amount of fat I would eat in the absence of protein, so I am trying to eat all organic, fresh foods. My family started getting community supported agriculture (CSA) boxes, and they are absolutely wonderful. I have been cooking very simple dishes the last few nights, like roasted rosemary-lemon chicken with sauteed zucchini, but because the of fresh vegetables they taste amazing. Hopefully one of these nights I can remember to take some pictures before eating!
The second import update is that I am working on a new, fictional web series! My good friend Kat Candler is executive producing and I am so excited to collaborate with her. I can't say much about the plot of the series, but hopefully it will be ready by the end of the spring.
See that wasn't so hard! Nothing too important, right? Anyway, I am thrilled to be updating you during this exciting time period of my life. That sounded so sarcastic, but I truly mean it.
